Jackson Educators for Young Children was established in the late 1970's by a group of child care professionals who had a shared vision to develop a strong early childhood program for Jackson County. Directors met monthly, sharing ideas to take back to their centers. Soon the Young 5's program was established through the efforts of this organization.
JEYC continues to have a strong impact in the early childhood profession in Jackson County. Training in the HighScope curriculum was brought to ten centers in across the County through grant funding awarded to JEYC. Several member directors became certified HighScope trainers, ensuring that young children have the opportunity to attend programs offering a research-based curriculum that provides children with the skills needed to succeed as they begin their educational journey. Training efforts continue today, driven by the needs of members. For a list of upcoming training topics click here.
