Jackson Educators for Young Children (JEYC)

JEYC was established in the late 1970’s by a group of child care professionals whose goal was to develop a strong early childhood program for Jackson County. Directors met monthly, sharing ideas to take back to their centers. Soon the Young 5’s Program was established through the efforts of this agency.

JEYC continues to have a strong impact in the early childhood profession. Training in the High Scope Curriculum was brought to ten centers In Jackson County through grant funding awarded to the organization. Training continues today through the member directors who became certified High Scope trainers, ensuring that young children have the opportunity to attend programs offering a researched based curriculum, providing children the skills needed as they begin their educational journey.
